Tribal Council


The Tribal Council is the legislative authority for the Mattaponi Indian Tribe & Reservation.

Body

Mattaponi Tribal Sovereignty

The Mattaponi Tribal Council is given the power from the people to generate and adopt all ordinances, resolutions, or other legislation conducive to the welfare of the people of Mattaponi. The Council is made up of seven members and the chiefs. The Council members are elected every four years by popular vote of tribal members.

Mark T. Falling Star Custalow is the Chief of the Mattaponi Indian Tribe and Reservation in King William County Virginia.  One of the oldest reservations in the United States.
