Summary:
The Tribal Administrator (Project Director) is a full-time (1 FTE), grant-funded position responsible for the successful implementation of a multi-year tribal governance and administrative capacity-building initiative. The position includes oversight of project planning, reporting, staffing, community engagement, and the development of administrative systems and policies. The Project Director ensures compliance with all grant requirements and facilitates coordination among Tribal Council, consultants, and community stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
•Manage daily operations of the project and implement the approved Objective Work Plan.
•Supervise project staff and consultants; assign duties and monitor performance.
•Oversee the development of administrative policies, procedures, and internal controls.
•Track and report on project progress, including all required federal and tribal reporting (OPR, ADR, SF-425, etc.).
•Coordinate procurement, budgeting, and fiscal tracking in collaboration with the Tribal Finance Office.
•Facilitate public meetings, engagement sessions, and tribal steering committee coordination.
•Lead the development and finalization of tribal codes and policies, including land use, business, taxation, dispute resolution, and historical property management.
•Serve as liaison between Tribal Council and project personnel.
•Conduct or delegate internal audits and maintain thorough documentation for compliance.
•Ensure appropriate onboarding, training, and evaluation for staff and consultants.
•Other duties as assigned by Tribal Council or project oversight committee.
Position Requirements:
•High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in public administration, tribal governance, or a related field preferred.
•Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project management, tribal administration, or nonprofit leadership.
•Knowledge of tribal sovereignty, Indigenous governance practices, and community engagement.
•Experience with federal grant reporting and project coordination.
•Strong leadership, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Familiarity with ANA SEDS or other federally funded tribal grant programs.
•Experience working directly with tribal governments or Native communities.
•Proficiency with Microsoft 365, QuickBooks, and cloud-based data/document systems.
Working Conditions: This is an office-based position with required travel within the tribal community for site visits, meetings, and outreach. Evening or weekend hours may occasionally be required.
Compensation:
$68,203 Annually, Salaried Position
