Summary: The Housing Director is a full-time (1 FTE) position dedicated to the Mattaponi Housing Rehabilitation Project. This grant-funded position is responsible for the successful implementation of the Mattaponi Indian Tribe’s Indian Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The position entails management of the grant and implementation of the programmatic activities required to meet all grant objectives.
- Job Responsibilities:
Direct the work of the Housing Office; - Work with Tribal Council and consultants to craft Home Rehabilitation Policies and Procedures;
- Implement Housing Rehabilitation Policies and Procedures, including verification of income eligibility;
- Oversee vendor search for home rehabilitation activities and present options to Tribal Council in accordance with its procurement policies;
- Development of prioritization lists (ranking severity of household need);
- Pre- and post-construction/rehabilitation inspection;
- General oversight of construction/rehabilitation;
- Generate purchasing and payroll requests and perform other financial management duties related to home rehabilitation;
- Monitor and evaluate of project objectives and impact;
- Prepare and submit all required reporting including financial and programmatic reports, budget modifications and carryover requests (if necessary), and any other grant administration duties required by MIT leadership and HUD; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study;
- Experience in housing services, construction, and project management within the past five years;
- Demonstrable track record of success in housing project and/or personnel management within the past five years, measured by fulfillment of promised outcomes and overall impact of accomplishments;
- Relevant experience in the area of property rehabilitation;
- Familiarity with federal housing program rules and regulations;
- Familiarity with tribal housing program rules and regulations; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Working Conditions: This is an office position with an expectation that the Housing Director will spend up to 25% of their time visiting, overseeing, and inspecting work on home rehabilitation sites.
Direct Reports: Oversees Housing Services staff.
